E-SCIENCE INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT ISSUES IN THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA
Yadigar N. Imamverdiyev

Due to its rapid economic development, the Republic of Korea is a phenomenon, and science and technology play an important role in this success. The paper analyzes organizational structure, national initiatives and projects realized for the formation and development of e-science in the Republic of Korea. The information is provided about GLORIAD and KREONET networks which form e-science network infrastructure, and K*Grid national initiative for national Grid infrastructure development. The objectives, tasks, and stages of Korean e-science project, and implementations carried out within the framework of the project and the main application areas are analyzed, and the project experience is summarized.
