This study examines the influence of citizen science on digital and sustainable development agendas. The research employs a systematic literature review combined with a comparative analysis of international projects. Rapid advances in digital transformation and Industry 4.0 technologies have facilitated the expansion of citizen science, especially in domains such as environmental monitoring, biodiversity conservation, public health, and radiation safety. Case studies include prominent initiatives such as global learning and observations to benefit the environment, global mosquito observations dashboard, safecast, etc.with assessments of their technological applications, public engagement strategies, and data processing methods. A qualitative, systematic analytical approach was adopted to evaluate the alignment of citizen science practices with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Findings indicate that artificial intelligence, machine learning, and open data infrastructures enhance the functionality of citizen science, increasing both the reliability of scientific outcomes and their societal impact. Furthermore, citizen science fosters public participation and transparent governance, positioning itself as a key pillar of digital development strategies. The study underscores the strategic role of citizen science as a synergy of democratic participation, digital inclusion, and sustainable development, highlighting the necessity for inclusive and resilient approaches in future research (pp.117-126).
