SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT TRENDS AND PROBLEMS IN THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA (azerb.)

For a brief historical period, the Republic of Korea has gone a unique path of development from an agrarian country into one of the technology leaders in the world. Science and technology played an important role in this development. This paper provides information on the history of R&D in the Republic of Korea, analyzes the mechanisms of formation of science and technology policy, the main components of the R&D infrastructure, education-science-industry interaction, and key indicators for science and technology. Some problems of the Korean R&D system are identifies and the main objectives pursued by the country in the new millennium. (pp. 15-25)
